Bone ash (Lime phosphate)

Used for the preparation of glazes by providing calcium oxide.

Product obtained by calcination of animal bones.

It is an essential component of English phosphate porcelain and bone porcelain, which gives it its characteristic transparency.

It can be used to introduce calcium into frits and glazes, although carbonate of lime is much cheaper for this purpose.
