Description

STRONTIUM CARBONATE

Can also replace zinc or calcium in glazes.

It is also used as a flux in stoneware glazes (high temperature) between 1040 and 1250°C.

It increases the shine of the glazes.

In glazes: For low firing temperatures, some, and from 1100°C, all of the lead can be replaced by Strontium carbonate.

Calcium oxide or barium oxide can also be partially replaced by strontium carbonate.

STRONTIUM CARBONATE

Source of strontium for glazes, used as a flux at high temperature.

Part of the lead in glazes can be replaced by strontium carbonate, taking into account the consequent increase in temperature that the exchange will cause.

If on the contrary it replaces the calcium in the enamels, the melting point decreases.

A flux for glazes above 1090ºC with effects similar to whiting and zinc oxide.

Excess additions will precipitate a crystalline matt service.

Formula: SrCO3
